Lending Money in Second Life

Most people would never consider lending money online, at least in real life. When it comes to lending money in Second Life, however, a lot of users, it appears are much more lenient and willing to give. After all, it’s not like Second Life money is real money and there’s no need to worry about pesky, real life things like personal loan rates, dishonest lending institutions, or a whole life savings disappearing in the blink of an eye. Still, though, the money, land, inventory, and other virtual objects you acquire in Second Life often come with a lot of work and can mean a lot to you. That’s why lending money in Second Life is such a bad idea –because there’s no guarantee you can get it back.

Some readers may be confused, scratching their heads and asking, 'Since when does Second Life cost money?' Don’t worry to those readers. Second Life is still free, but there is a Second Life Currency, known as Second Life Linden by many users. The money Second Life offers has no value in the real world and is earned through doing various tasks or by paying actual money onto one’s account. It can be used to purchase clothes, new avatar features, and more, all of which are used in the virtual Second Life world.

Another thing, however, is that money can be transferred among users. Most people do this to trade or buy objects from one another, but Second Life officials advise against giving away or lending money, especially if the other person promises goods or objects in return. There is no such thing as free Second Life money; almost everything will come with some kind of a catch. When making trades, if at all possible have the person send the object first, or only trade with those you know in real life.
