New tools are always useful in Second Life because they improve the aspect and virtual abilities of Residents. Linden Lab, the company that is responsible for the existence of Second Life, constantly launches new tools and apps that promise to offer an improved experience of the multi-user virtual environment. These tools are designed to be more user friendly for the millions of non-gamers that have an avatar in Second Life.

Because Second Life has the potential of attracting all kinds of activities like fashion, sports, hobbies, brands and so on, education is also part of the SL universe. Over 5000 educational entities or educators are available in Second Life, ready to teach the Residents some knowledge. Among these is the prestigious Harvard Law School.

One new tool that promises more exposure in Second Life is called HTML on a Prim. Before this tool was developed, SL users, if they wanted to share a site with others, they had to open a browser outside the virtual Second Life platform. Now SL Residents can set a parcel to a website and view it inside Second Life and also write on the prim, search images, check mail and many more. This tool is very useful for educators in SL because they can use a wiki page as a live chalkboard and share the information with their students. It is much easier, because student users won’t have to leave SL to read the information on the wiki page.

Another incredible tool is the people locator. At any time, almost 65.000 users are logged in SL. Millions of others have accounts. As in real life, even in Second Life people are hard to find. That is why this new tool helps users to find the hot spots where people gather in SL. One simply has to click on the people he sees on the map and he can instantly teleport near them.
