Second Life And the Future

Second Life is basically a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (an MMOG) that simulates real life, including time and space, landscapes, cities, population, society, economy and entertainment. All these are created by users that practically have the power to do whatever they want, in the limit of the laws imposed by the creators from Linden lab.

Shortly, the Second Life virtual game can be considered a life simulator between 'The Sims' and the world of 'The Matrix' trilogy. The citizens of Second Life virtual world are called 'residents' and they are represented by an avatar which is a visual appearance created by themselves. A single person can have multiple accounts which implies more 'residents', but a single resident can also have multiple avatars. All scripts and 3D objects in Second Life are created by residents by using the program for creation in the game, but the animations textures and the sounds are created outside of the game.

Massively Multiplayer Online Game or Massively Multiplayer Online Life? That is the question. Where does the game begin and where does the game end in Second Life? But what about life? What is real and what is not?

Are there any limits in the virtual World. The Second Life society raises a lot of questions regarding the existence of human kind.

Second Life events are becoming more important than the ones in real life. Second Life fashion gives you the chance to look good wearing anything. Should we let simulation games to take over our real lives? Things are evolving very rapidly. More than that, the huge potential of efficiency and security of the communication between people all over the world that Second Life provides can't be ignored, and so are the economical or mediating aspects. Second Life can become the last program ever used by humanity because it includes all possible applications and it can do anything.
