Second Life Crimes
The most frowned upon problem in Second Life could easily be content theft. In a virtual reality where the users create, use and share content as local currency it is a crime to take something that does not belong to you as it could annoy a lot of the people around you.
Usually, in Second Life any crime stands out; and by crime meaning the equivalents of everyday life, but other stuff that pertains solely to the virtual reality. Virtual reality crimes are to these users as severe as committing such an act in the real life in broad daylight.
In the attempt to catch Second life content thieves and to punish content theft in Second Life as it should be, some of the residents have decided to create a wall of shame. This wall of shame is meant to name and publicize the thieves of Second Life and the ones that buy from them. The desired result was to decrease the virtual criminal acts by exposing them so others could steer clear of the unlawful activity in Second Life.
The wall of shame for those who have committed felonies in the virtual reality would contain stories from across the world, urging residents to act in order to prevent this from ever happening or to make sure that no one would be tempted to act in the same way. For example, Brazil was once the country from which the accused resident was from. This caused some commotion, leading to others to react and push against the perpetrator.
Crimes in Second Life are usually recorded with the use of pictures. A print screen at the right moment is worth a thousand words. Many are trying to make sure that these residents are pushed out of groups where they can do more harm and mention their name in the wall of shame for everyone to see.
