Second Life Dispute

In Second Life one of the most annoying and frowned upon thing one can do is copy the content of another resident. There are thousands, if not millions, of people inside the Second Life grid and some of them have made a virtual living out of their creativity. Designers are the most successful people in Second Life, because many go to them to change their look into something great.

Maddox DuPoint is the creator of MAD Hair, a very well-known and successful brand in the Second Life grid. But it seems that content theft has not escaped Mr. DuPont either as one of his most loyal clients discovered. MAD Hair has been reproduced by another resident from the grid and sold in a store for profit.

A Second Life confrontation ensued between the designer and the person who was selling the hair styles under his own brand, Rafal Burnstein. Burnstein owns what is called The Opium Club and earns a living in Second Life by DJ-ing (he actually self-proclaimed himself as the best in Second Life). However it seems that he is also interested in taking credit for other people’s work.

When the Confrontation in Second Life began between the two residents, many pictures were brought out and shown in order to resolve the issue. If a user would enter either one of the stores, he or she would be able to buy anything with a few simple clicks. But it seems that the items in the store of Rafal Burnstein are the exact same as those of MAD Hair.

In the Second Life dispute Maddox DuPont found out that this was all done with the help of a third person, Lukasz Glom. The dispute from Second Life was resolved when the two stopped selling the stolen hair designs and their names will forever remain in the wall of shame of Second Life.
